$3.1B in Stolen Binance Crypto Has Yet to Be Laundered: Elliptic
Around half of the $6.43 billion stolen from Binance last month has yet to be laundered, blockchain analytics firm Elliptic said in a report updated on Friday. About $3.11 billion remains in addresses linked to the theft, mostly in ETH and Bitcoin, and those funds are "very likely" still held by North Korea, Elliptic said. A further $2.85 billion, or 44% of the haul, has been frozen or seized, mostly stablecoins that issuers such as Tether and Circle froze within an hour of the theft. That compa...

OpenAI Promises to Foot AI’s Power Bill After Voter Revolt. Who Enforces It?
OpenAI promised Thursday that neighbors of its future AI campuses won't foot the bill for their electricity needs, two days after voters dealt data center expansion a blow at the polls. Zcash Upgrade Could Lock $16 Million in Crypto Forever
Zcash is preparing to shut down its oldest privacy technology, potentially leaving millions of dollars in cryptocurrency inaccessible to their owners—even if they still have the passwords and private keys needed to access their wallets. Approximately 12,224 ZEC remain in Sprout, the cryptocurrency's original privacy pool, according to ZecStats data updated Thursday. At recent market prices, those holdings represent roughly $15 million to $16 million that could become effectively frozen when the...

OpenAI Found 948 Linux Security Flaws—And Figured Out How to Exploit Them
OpenAI says its autonomous security agents discovered 948 distinct vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel, developed working exploits and drafted fixes for review—all for roughly $1.2 million in API credits. “We chose Linux to study how effectively frontier models could find vulnerabilities and demonstrate their security impact in a codebase of this scale and importance,” OpenAI said in results published Wednesday. The Linux kernel powers cloud servers, Android devices and much of the world's cri...
