Crypto’s combined global market cap of $2.51 trillion may have barely moved in the last twenty-four hours, but that hasn’t stopped Cosmos (ATOM) blowing up 10.74% overnight to set a new price of $39.58, according to crypto data aggregator Nomics.
Cosmos crossed the $40 mark yesterday and hit an all-time high of $40.76. Today marks a tiny retreat, however when taking into consideration Cosmos’s explosive price recent performance: it’s still ten dollars up from seven days ago, and around twenty dollars up from this time last month.
Cosmos is described by its developers as an “internet of blockchains." It's an interoperability network that enables different blockchains to connect, share data and transact with each other, the advantage being that blockchains can specialize in different areas, so no one blockchain needs to corner the entire market.
On August 18, the price of Cosmos rallied 25% from $15 to $20 after the launch of a cross-chain DeFi interface called Emeris.
At the end of August, Cosmos also opened a bridge with the Ethereum network. The integration of Sifchain, a decentralized exchange (DEX) built on Cosmos, with the inter-blockchain communication protocol (IBC) enabled trading between the Cosmos and Ethereum networks for the first time.
Cross-chain data oracle Band Protocol has announced a new integration with Starport, a development tool for the Cosmos blockchain—allowing third-party developers to gain access to numerous new data feeds. Thanks to the integration, newly created chains in the Cosmos ecosystem will be able to exchange data via the interoperability standard called inter-blockchain communication protocol, or IBC. "Until now, IBC was primarily used for asset transfers," Band Protocol developers noted in a press rele...
As of today, Cosmos is the twenty-first biggest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, but at this rate it’d take only $0.8 billion for it to flip FTX Token and make it into the top twenty.

Russian individuals and groups are using Kyrgyzstan’s cryptocurrency ecosystem to evade international sanctions, according to research from UK-based blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs. Publishing its findings in a blog, TRM Labs reported that Kyrgyzstan appears to be serving as a front for cryptocurrency platforms and services linked to Russian exchange Garantex, which was shuttered in March after an international operation. New TRM analysis shows how Russia is turning to Central Asian natio...
Public Keys is a weekly roundup from Decrypt that tracks the key publicly traded crypto companies. ETHA hits warp speed BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust, which trades under the ETHA ticker, just became the third-fastest ETF to reach $10 billion. It reached the milestone in 251 days. And was beat by BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust and Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund—which did it in 34 days and 53 days, respectively. There was much hand wringing and head scratching on Wall Street when the...
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has slammed the recently passed GENIUS Act, saying the American people will “pay the price” for the groundbreaking crypto legislation. The act, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump earlier this month, provides legal clarity for stablecoins. It establishes a framework for issuing and trading stablecoins, which has prompted increased interest in them from banks and major retailers. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Warren acknowledged the U.S. needs “str...
