Crypto users across the European Economic Area (EEA) looking to convert and spend their digital assets are in luck, with Gate Group’s Visa-backed debit card offering a “seamless” way to integrate cryptocurrency holdings with everyday transactions for most EEA users.
Operating entirely in euros across the global Visa network, the Gate Group card offers more than a few benefits for crypto holders.
Over 2,500 cryptocurrencies supported
For starters, Gate Group has implemented a comprehensive reward structure designed to encourage regular usage. Cardholders receive 1% USDT cashback on all transactions, while new users benefit from doubled rewards in their first month.
The program extends beyond basic purchases, too—travelers can earn up to 7% cashback on hotel reservations and 2% cashback on flight bookings through the Gate Travel platform. The card also integrates seamlessly with Google Pay for convenient contactless payments, enhancing the user experience at millions of locations globally.
The card also integrates with Gate Group’s existing infrastructure. Through the platform's Flashswap feature, cardholders can top up their cards using a variety of different cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Ethereum, while Gate Connect facilitates direct crypto purchases with nearly 100 fiat currencies.
Users spending over €300 monthly will also automatically unlock the Gate VIP tier, enabling them to access an exclusive tier of benefits. This premium status brings reduced trading fees, preferential borrowing rates, and increased allocation in startup airdrops. The program rewards regular usage while providing tangible benefits for crypto enthusiasts and traders alike, creating a comprehensive ecosystem of advantages for cardholders.
"Seamless" integration and accessibility
Gate Group has prioritized accessibility in the card's design, offering both virtual and physical options for users. Virtual cards become available immediately upon approval, handily enabling instant transactions for those who don’t want to wait. The physical cards are then delivered within 7–45 days.
Both the virtual and physical cards operate from the same account, ensuring consistent access to funds, and the virtual card carries no monthly, annual, or application fees. European transactions are also exempt from foreign exchange charges.
A future-ready solution
The application process reflects current financial regulations, requiring EEA residents to complete full KYC verification through Gate Group's platform. This includes identity documentation and a liveness check to confirm user authenticity. Each Gate Group account is restricted to one card, with separate accounts required for additional family member cards.
Gate Group has also implemented customer protection measures, including a 45-day reissue policy for delayed physical cards. Looking ahead, Gate Group has confirmed plans to expand the card's availability beyond the EEA, in a bid to drive the global integration of traditional payment infrastructure with digital asset capabilities, and address the growing demand for flexible crypto-to-fiat payment solutions.
