NFT collection Cool Cats has joined iconic characters including Pikachu and Ronald McDonald as a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon.
The Cool Cats balloon, which depicts the collection's main character Blue Cat and milk carton Chugs, accompanies this week's launch of a YouTube Shorts series, "The Milk Chug".
A limited-edition Cool Cats hoodie marking the occasion will also be available in Herald Square Macy's; the hoodie comes complete with an NFC tag that links to an Azuki physical backed token, enabling the garment to be worn IRL and in Cool Cats' digital avatar system.
Created by artist Colin 'Clon' Egan, Cool Cats originated as a series of artworks by the 'Catoonist,' before making the transition to Instagram in 2015. In 2021, Clon launched the Cool Cats NFT collection consisting of 9,999 Blue Cat PFPs.
The collection became one of the "blue chip" profile picture projects of the late 2021 NFT boom, with prices averaging $92,000 and the project signing with top Hollywood agency CAA in early 2022—but prices tumbled amid mounting community discontent and a broader crypto market downturn.
Earlier this year, the collection announced plans to expand to multiple blockchain networks and licensed its IP to games studios.
The floor price for the collection currently stands at 0.99 ETH, or just over $2,000 at current prices, while volume has spiked by 225% in the last day to 57.9 ETH.
