Tonkeeper, the #1 non-custodial wallet for TON blockchain with over 30 million users, is announcing the launch of the Signer app. This app enables Tonkeeper users to securely store and operate private keys. This further secures crypto assets on TON, one of the most rapidly-growing blockchain networks in 2024.

Historically, users of non-custodial crypto wallets like Tonkeeper have had to deal with a significant problem - the risks of managing private keys. This has led to many international headlines, millions of dollars worth of losses and even bounties offered to anyone who can figure out how to track down stolen funds. Case in point, hackers stole $1.4 billion in the first half of 2024, and Chainalysis data shows that a significant portion of these thefts are often the result of phishing scams

Developed by Tonkeeper, Signer allows users to ‘sign’ their Tonkeeper transactions outside their wallets, giving users a sense of safety with an additional step for peace of mind. Users can decide whether to pair Signer with a device that has the Tonkeeper app already installed; or with an offline device “air gapped” without any internet access using QR codes to sign to provide even more safety

“This extra step key signing solution offered by Signer is long-overdue,” said Daniel Cawrey, Tonkeeper’s Chief Strategy Officer. “We firmly believe that TON will be the on-ramp for the next half-billion users of digital assets. We want to ensure users holding larger crypto balances that they have the most advanced security and safety tools at their disposal.”

With Signer, keys are stored encrypted, accessed only via a user password. Signer users can effortlessly sign transactions by leveraging the convenience of pairing with the Tonkeeper wallet on a single device or on a separate via QR codes.

Signer comes with two options that enable virtually anyone holding a good amount of crypto to take advantage of its benefits:

  • Convenience mode: A seamless UX where Signer can be paired with the Tonkeeper wallet app on a single device, allowing for easy access to both apps for signing transactions
  • Maximum security mode: Users with a completely separate device not connected to the internet can physically isolate private keys and user QR code signing. This method can drastically minimize the risk of online attacks

There is no need to create a new account to use Signer, nor do users need to create new private keys. The Tonkeeper app seamlessly integrates with existing wallets to ensure compatibility with existing holdings.

To keep assets safer and more secure, download the Signer app for iOS and Android.
