Blockchain gaming startup Immutable announced Tuesday the official launch of Immutable Passport, a universal sign-on and wallet solution aimed at simplifying access to online games and marketplaces for players.
Immutable Passport provides users with a single identity and wallet that allows them to easily carry digital assets, achievements, identities, and funds across multiple crypto games and marketplaces. The company claims that the product eliminates much of the complexity traditionally associated with signing up for and onboarding into blockchain games.
Following a beta launch earlier this year, Immutable Passport has been integrated into five crypto games and marketplaces for this official rollout—including Gods Unchained, Blocklete Golf, Bleacher Report's Watch2Earn, TokenTrove, and AtomicHub.
Combined, Immutable says that those games and marketplaces have over 500,000 registered users. Immutable Passport works with the company’s Immutable X scaling network on Ethereum. The firm is also developing an advanced scaling network for games called Immutable zkEVM, which is based on Polygon’s zkEVM technology.

Assassin's Creed Maker Ubisoft Is Building a Crypto 'Gaming Experience' With Immutable
Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six Siege publisher Ubisoft is pushing further into blockchain gaming—this time to create a “Web3 gaming experience” with crypto infrastructure and gaming company Immutable. Together, Ubisoft and Immutable are building “a new gaming experience that will further unlock the potential of Web3,” according to a statement. Immutable is the firm behind the Immutable X layer-2 blockchain, which other games like Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians also use for their NFT int...
Passport works by providing passwordless sign-on and automated wallet creation for players without ever taking custody of their private keys or assets. The product is now open for integration by additional game studios and developers.
Immutable cited internal research showing that Passport users are more than twice as likely to complete signup and onboarding compared to traditional email and wallet methods. The company views the product as key to addressing high dropout rates among prospective players during initial signup.

“It’s incredibly frustrating to spend countless hours building a superb game only to lose potential players because of a complex and cumbersome sign-up process,” said Immutable President and co-founder Robbie Ferguson, in a release.
“That’s why our developer partners love Immutable Passport,” he continued. “It increases user acquisition, optimizes transaction conversion rates, and gives players a smooth, seamless experience that enables them to explore new worlds and participate in new economies like never before.”
