Altitude Games has started selling Season 1 item crates for its upcoming blockchain-based racing game, Battle Racers, with each crate packing car parts and other exclusive items for the game. The sale began today and will run until December 20, or until all crates are sold.
Each crate contains up to four in-game items, with each issued as a non-fungible token (NFT) on the Matic Network sidechain. Players can mix and match items to create a functional in-game car. Battle Racers’ competitive races will require an entry fee, while practice races will be free to play, according to today’s announcement.
Lucky buyers may walk away with the “Guerilla Cyber,” an in-game car inspired by the recently-unveiled Tesla Cybertruck. Like the real vehicle, the Guerilla Cyber has a distinctively boxy frame, although a screenshot also shows an added wing—and missiles, too.
Season 1 crates may also include the “Binance Bug,” with the Manilla-based developer also promising collaborations with fellow blockchain games CryptoKitties and My Crypto Heroes in the future. Crates are available in Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Wood varieties, each at a different cost and with a varying chance to find legendary items within. Discounted crates are available for the first 48 hours of the sale through a partnership with Matic Network.
“We're pleased to launch the Season 1 sale of Battle Racers to the blockchain game community,” said Altitude Games CEO Gabby Dizon, in a release. “Along with our partners such as Matic Network, Decentraland, CryptoKitties, DappRadar, and My Crypto Heroes, we're one step closer to bringing blockchain gaming to the mainstream gamer community.”
Battle Racers will eventually go live on blockchain gaming platform Decentraland, but for now is available in early access directly from the game’s website.
