One of DeFi’s foundational products just got a major upgrade.
Uniswap announced the mainnetmainnet launch of Uniswap V2 on Monday, introducing new features like price oracles, flash swaps, and liquidityliquidity pools for any ERC20 tokentoken pair. The launch follows nearly two months of review on Ethereum testnets, and also includes the addition of a currently inactive protocol transaction charge to be used to help fund decentralized development of Uniswap in the future.
We are thrilled to announce Uniswap V2 has been deployed to the Ethereum mainet!!!

Uniswap offers decentralized token exchanges using pools of tokens filled by liquidity providers. Liquidity providers receive a fee for each swap facilitated by Uniswap.
The new features of the upgraded protocol are welcome additions to the toolkits of traders and liquidity providers working within the DeFi ecosystem. While users could swap between ERC20 tokens in Uniswap V1, changes under the hood mean that these transactions will now be less expensive and allow liquidity providers to diversify their holdings.
The original Uniswap protocol was not reliable as a price oracle because prices could change significantly in a short amount of time depending on available liquidity. V2 measures the price at the beginning of a block before any trades have taken place and combines it with historical price data to deliver a functional oracle.
The approach is novel and Uniswap will continue to release documentation and guidelines to spur development. More oracles using different approaches to price discovery are key to achieving a standard price and resisting exploits.
DENVER—On Friday, ETHDenver emcee Hudson Jameson called Tom Bean of bZx to the stage to give a talk called, “Leveraging DeFi with Fulcrum.” The protocol allows developers to build “applications that empower lenders, borrowers, and traders with the most flexible decentralized finance protocol on Ethereum.” But after calling Bean to the podium, Jameson was met with awkward silence. So he tried again, killing time with—what else?—jokes about TRON. But Bean never showed. Bean’s absence was an inausp...
Flash swaps function much like dYdX flash loans that were used to attack the bZx protocol earlier in 2020. Users can get as many tokens as they want to use for activities like arbitrage or app testing, so long as they return all the tokens or pay the equivalent value back before the end of the block. If a return transaction isn’t submitted before then, the entire transaction is canceled.
Uniswap V1 launched in November 2018 and by the end of 2019 had over $25 million locked in liquidity pools. Total value locked reached an all-time high of more than $72 million on February 13 before crashing to just $21 million by March 16. Locked value has recovered somewhat since then and now sits at around $43 million.
It was launched as an exclusive cryptocurrency, only for those with deep pockets. But after a vote, now the average Joe will soon be able to buy President Trump-backed WLFI from exchanges. The native token of World Liberty Financial will soon be available for trading to "begin the next phase of community ownership and engagement," according to its website. WLFI is World Liberty's native governance token. In the crypto space, holders of a governance token can vote to make changes to how the proj...
A blockchain researcher accidentally burned approximately $58,000 worth of Pump.fun’s PUMP token on Solana—but he told Decrypt that he isn’t “sad or angry” about the costly mistake. The mistake came after he bought $40,000 worth of the token in Pump.fun’s sought-after token sale on Saturday, which sold out in just 12 minutes. Once the token launched, PUMP debuted at a price of $0.005827, which is 45% higher than its ICO valuation, bringing the unlucky trader’s losses to a total of $58,270. On Su...
Hyperliquid has rapidly become a major player in decentralized finance, but Project X aims to level the playing field on the layer-1 HyperEVM chain that powers it—and seeks to become the frontend for the ecosystem in the process. In a space crowded with teams racing to build similar platforms, the team insists its strategy stands apart. Rather than focusing solely on technical innovation, Project X sits down with Decrypt for an exclusive interview on how it is taking a distribution-first approac...
