Adult content platform Pornhub announced today that it began accepting Bitcoin (BTC) and Litecoin (LTC) as payment methods for its premium subscription service.

“To further expand our cryptocurrency options for Pornhub Premium, we're excited to announce that we now accept Bitcoin & Litecoin as payment methods!” the platform tweeted.

This is not the first time Pornhub has penetrated the crypto space. Back in April 2018, the platform began accepting Verge (XVG), a rebranded version of Dogecoin’s hardfork Dogecoindark, announcing that “The future has cum.”

After PayPal stopped processing payments for Pornhub models last November, Verge saw a huge spike in its price. Since then, the adult platform has also added support for Tron (TRX) and PumaPay (PMA).

While Bitcoin wasn’t the first choice of crypto for Pornhub, Satoshi Nakamoto, the first cryptocurrency’s enigmatic creator, wasn’t shy in pivoting BTC as a “convenient” method to pay for porn.

“Bitcoin would be convenient for people who don't have a credit card or don't want to use the cards they have, either don't want the spouse to see it on the bill or don't trust giving their number to ‘porn guys’, or afraid of recurring billing,” Nakamoto wrote in a thread on the BitcoinTalk forum on September 23, 2010.

At the time, other commenters argued that adult platforms won't adopt Bitcoin easily as it’s “too difficult for the average guy to use” since “he doesn't care about hashing/encrypting/p2p” and there is no way to set up recurring payments.

Nearly ten years later, Pornhub proved that Nakamoto was right after all.
