The Algorand Foundation launched its new Aid Trust Portal, an online portal to track and visualize humanitarian aid payments. The portal is designed to track the flow of assets in and out of wallets, similar to how block explorers track transactions and activity on blockchains. Built on the Algorand blockchain, any asset on Algorand with a public key can be visualized via the portal, showing the relationship between different wallets and unlocking transparent aid payments in a way that has never been done before.
The Aid Trust Portal is already being used by HesabPay to track aid payments made by several of its clients, including multiple UN agencies, who are using the HesabPay wallet to deliver aid in some of the world's most fragile contexts. Ensuring the transparent and efficient distribution of aid funds is critical, especially in regions such as Afghanistan and Northeast Syria, where political instability, security concerns, risks of aid diversion, and limited infrastructure can impede aid delivery to the most vulnerable populations. The Aid Trust Portal shows interactive network graph visualizations that analyze the flow of disbursed funds, facilitating transparency for donors, aid organizations, government agencies, compliance teams, and regulators. Such advanced blockchain analytics tools have never before been made available for free to the aid sector with the explicit intent of revolutionizing trust in humanitarian aid payments.
Algorand is proud to support humanitarian organizations in their efforts and is dedicated to creating the most transparent way to visualize humanitarian aid payments. The portal is an intuitive representation of how funds move through the network of recipients and intermediaries involved in cash disbursement. Users can access the portal at aidtrust.io. About Algorand
Algorand’s mission is to power a world where information has integrity and innovative ideas can scale. Launched in 2019, the Algorand (ALGO) blockchain has grown into a vibrant ecosystem of developers, entrepreneurs, and enterprise partners that benefit from institutional-grade certainty and resilience. Its low fees, instant finality, and minimal carbon footprint appeal to the protocol's millions of retail users, and developers of all kinds appreciate the ability to use common programming languages like Python and Typescript. Builders on Algorand are creating protocols and companies that solve important problems at a global scale: tamper-proof on-chain credentialing, instant payments in war and disaster zones, self-sovereign identity for the disenfranchised, supply-chain traceability for global commerce, and the creation of entirely new markets through tokenization, to name a few.
