Decentralized exchange (DEX) Uniswap has built an interface that enables users to swap any ERC-20 token for Ethereum and donate it to the Ukrainian government in one transaction.
“To ensure that everyone who wants to donate ERC-20 tokens to the Ukrainian government can do so, we built an interface that swaps any token for ETH and then sends it directly to the Ukrainian government in a single transaction,” Uniswap tweeted.
The protocol added that the interface was built so that “anyone who wants to donate but holds other ERC-20 tokens can do so with one click.”
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, tens of millions of dollars worth of crypto has been donated to the Ukrainian government and NGOs.
Earlier this week, the Ukrainian government shared a Bitcoin and Ethereum address for donations; to date, blockchain records show these addresses have received over $8 million and $7 million worth of Bitcoin and Ethereum respectively.
Earlier today, the Ukrainian government announced on Twitter that it was now accepting Polkadot donations as well, with “more cryptocurrencies” to follow.
According to blockchain analytics firm Elliptic, the total amount of cryptocurrency donations sent to the Ukrainian government and NGOs passed $20 million yesterday.
In addition to donations sent directly to Ukrainian government addresses, a fundraiser called Support Ukrainian Sovereignty claims to have raised a total of $511,000 to date.
Come Back Alive, an NGO suspended by crowdfunding platform Patreon for “funding military activity,” also raised “several million dollars” according to Elliptic.
