K Rahman, 24, has been arrested after allegedly purchasing $27,000 worth of ecstasy pills in exchange for Bitcoin in India, according to The Times of India.
The drugs were sent from Frankfurt around the end of July, bearing a false address, according to the report. Rahman was due to receive the illegal goods through the Foreign Post Office in Chamarajpet.
The parcel itself contained 750 grey and brown coloured pills, which were confirmed as ecstasy, otherwise known as MDMA.
The parcel was inspected on July 31. According to The Times of India, after the Narcotics Control Bureau confirmed the drugs, the Bureau’s Bangalore zonal director, Amit Ghawate, led an investigation to track the receiver down. Ater 19 days of searching, Rahman was found.
“Rahman had, on previous occasions, ordered the drugs and received them at the city’s FPO before selling them at parties and among youngsters, mostly college students,” said an investigating officer.
Held under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Rahman is now in judicial custody.
